FROM: Joseph A. Beaudoin, NARFE National HQ

DATE: Monday, June 6
SUBJECT: Keep our ads on the air!
Politicians
in Washington are going to hear us loud and clear: Federal workers protect
America’s heartbeat, and we will not be deficit scapegoats.
Last week, we
launched a
series of new radio ads in the
Washington, DC, and targeted states across the nation area. Each morning and
evening, as members of Congress and their staff drive to and from work, they’ll
hear the stories of federal workers who cared for our veterans and defended our
nation – only to have their leaders turn against them.
But to make
an even bigger splash, we need to keep these ads up on the air longer, and
expand our buy to even more districts. Can you help us raise $50,000 by midnight
Friday to expand our Protect America’s Heartbeat radio campaign?
In the
interest of making it easier and even safer to donate online to our Protect
America’s Heartbeat campaign, our National HQ team has created a new,
convenient online donation form. I hope you will take advantage of it now,
because putting these ads on the air couldn’t be more urgent.
Just last
week, announcing his run for president, former Minnesota Governor Tim Pawlenty declared he would visit Washington “to remind the
federal bureaucracy that government exists to serve its citizens, not its employees.”
I have news
for Mr. Pawlenty: He doesn’t have to visit
Washington, because federal workers and retirees are in Minnesota. And in Iowa. And in every state in our
nation.
And he
doesn’t have to remind us about service. We were faithfully serving the
citizens of this great nation long before he first decided he wanted to run for
political office.
We’re the
middle-class families who protect our borders, keep our families safe and keep Social
Security checks going out on time, often for less pay than we could have earned
in the private sector.
The political
pressure to attack federal workers and retirees is enormous. That’s why it’s
so critical that our powerful new ads are heard by the key legislators who are,
at this moment, deciding whether to make drastic cuts to our hard-earned
benefits.
Listen to our
ads now – then make a secure donation to keep our message on the airwaves.
Thank you for
your consistent support and your willingness to raise your voice at a time of
great peril. We are doing everything we can to prevent the worst.
Sincerely,
Joseph A.
Beaudoin
